We were relaxing in the Netherlands for a few days. I had actually only brought my camera for vacation memories. But then I saw this desolate campervan parking area and was immediately captivated by the place, which initially offered no photo opportunities.
I was captivated by the contrast between vacation, nature, urban terrain, death and life, which could not have been greater in such a small area.

So I took two hours at two days with my 28mm lens for my own and was able to bring home this series about the parking lot and what was within a five-minute walk.

A few more words about the lady with the dog, with whom I had a nice talk after taking the photo. She’s 93 years old, and her dog is probably nearly the same age in dog years. But both are still self-sufficient in their camper and are enjoying their time together. Even the bad weather can’t deter them. I was very impressed, and my conversation with her still resonates with me. And she also brings an almost surreal cheerfulness to the series, which I really like, compared to the rather bleak atmosphere of the square.

I hope you enjoyed this little excursion into a more reportage-like series.
