Shortly before Christmas, despite the stress, most people are often more empathetic than usual. I am not spared the Christmas spirit either. And even though I usually find it very difficult to see the lives of those on the street who are not doing well, it is infinitely more difficult for me at this time. Especially when you are out and about with your camera and you notice everything even more focused.
Add to that the bitter cold and life rushing by, in which everyone seems to be preparing for a wonderful time with their families and friends, which of course drastically increases the contrast between these two worlds that live a little past each other. So I wanted to get something to drink quickly and saw the lady in front of the kiosk. I have met her several times in Bonn before.
When I was paying, she also went into the kiosk and took a few things from the fridge and wanted to pay. I just quickly took the bill and left without explaining myself too much. I think that this is a quick and uncomplicated way to bring a perhaps unexpectedly good moment into people's lives without damaging their honor.
I chose the picture alongside the story because the backpack in the shape of a funny dragon has a kind of protective character for me. No matter how worn out, the little one always looks after the lady. That was my moment of the week.
…I just press the shutter...
